How to Think About Meditation
Meditation is not designed to shut off our thoughts. It is the practice of focusing your mind on an anchor, this anchor can be anything: the breath, a visual cue, mantras, a sensation, a yoga pose. When your mind wanders away from the anchor, you notice it, acknowledge that you have strayed and return to the anchor. Each time you do this, you carve neural pathway deeper and better train your brain to gently guide itself back to the task at hand. (Tell me you don't need that skill.)
